Jason Bonham speculated about Led Zeppelin’s official exhibition plans

Jason Bonham has speculated on what Led Zeppelin may be planning for the name “The Led Zeppelin Experience,” referring to LedZepNews’ recent report revealing the band’s plans for an exhibition.

Speaking to Eddie Trunk for an episode of “The Eddie Trunk Podcast” released earlier this month, Bonham speculated that Led Zeppelin may be planning an official exhibition similar to Pink Floyd’s “Their Mortal Remains” exhibition.

LedZepNews reported back in 2018 that Bonham changed the name of his band from Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience to Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening at the request of Led Zeppelin because the band had “plans for the terminology.”

Earlier this month, we revealed that the surviving members of Led Zeppelin plus John Bonham’s wife Patricia Bonham registered a business in 2018 whose purpose is “activities of exhibition and fair organisers”.

Speaking to Trunk earlier this month, Bonham recalled having to change the name of his band.

“I was a little confused. ‘Why…?’ I thought, ‘Were they not happy with me doing it?'” Bonham said in comments transcribed by Ultimate Guitar.

“But no, there was something they were working on, which from the looks of what the news – just saw in the news the other day, it was possibly something similar to what Pink Floyd had done with the Pink Floyd Experience. I think they wanted the terminology, ‘Experience,’ to be able to do something like that, I guess. That’s my take on it because they said, ‘We’re still allowing you to use the name ‘Led Zeppelin’.”

“I said, ‘I know, I just need, I’ve got the license plate, I need something else in the logo, I need another E’. So we tried ‘Extravaganza,’ that didn’t sound right, so it became Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening.”

Pink Floyd has an official touring exhibition

Bonham didn’t tell Trunk that he knows what Led Zeppelin is planning. Instead, it’s clear he’s speculating after reading our report and being asked to change the name of his band around the time that Led Zeppelin set up its exhibition business.

Bonham seems to be referring to “Their Mortal Remains,” Pink Floyd’s official touring exhibition which debuted in London in 2017 and is currently being held in Los Angeles.

That exhibition’s full title is “The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains,” while Bonham mistakenly called it “The Pink Floyd Experience.”

If you’re curious what Pink Floyd’s exhibition is like (and what Led Zeppelin’s potential exhibition may be like) you can watch a video preview of it below. It features the band’s music, costumes, instruments, videos and memorabilia.
