Parts of a previously unheard Led Zeppelin soundboard from 1975 have emerged online

Two snippets from a previously unheard recording of Led Zeppelin’s January 18, 1975 performance in Minneapolis emerged online earlier this week.

No audience or soundboard recordings of the show have been released, making the snippets potentially the first audio from the show to have emerged since 1975.

The first sample features Robert Plant telling the crowd about Jimmy Page’s injury to his finger. “Jimmy had the misfortune to break one of his fingers … one of his fingertips,” he says, before the start of “The Song Remains The Same.”

The second sample includes Plant referencing “Kashmir,” which the band presumably just played, and then introducing “The Wanton Song.” The snippet ends midway through the song.

The entry for the performance on Led Zeppelin’s official website lists the following songs as having been included on the set list:

  • Rock and Roll
  • Sick Again
  • Over the Hills and Far Away
  • When the Levee Breaks
  • The Song Remains the Same
  • Rain Song
  • Kashmir
  • The Wanton Song
  • No Quarter
  • Trampled Underfoot
  • Moby Dick
  • In My Time of Dying
  • Stairway to Heaven
  • Whole Lotta Love
  • Black Dog
