Here are all the US government files on The Starship

The US government still holds almost 200 pages of records on The Starship, the plane Led Zeppelin used to tour the US in 1973 and 1975.

As part of our investigation into the plane’s history, LedZepNews requested copies of the plane’s records from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Any member of the public can request these files online and they arrive either on a CD or as paper files through the post. It costs $10 per CD containing aircraft records.

The files are grouped into three records: Airworthiness, Registration and Suspense.

According to the FAA, “the Airworthiness file contains airworthiness information, such as airworthiness applications, airworthiness certificates, major repair and alteration forms, etc.”

It also explains that “the Registration file contains registration and recordation information, such as bills of sale, aircraft registration applications, security agreements, releases, etc.”

Finally, Suspense “contains documents that have been examined, but were returned for correction or are being held for additional documentation, along with a copy of the examiner’s letter outlining what is required for acceptance.”
