The surviving members of Led Zeppelin have all spoken to Uncut Magazine about the recording of Physical Graffiti for a new cover story marking the album’s fiftieth anniversary.
The contents of the magazine’s April 2025 issue, number issue 349, have been revealed today. They show that the magazine’s cover story is a feature on the making of Physical Graffiti that includes new interviews with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones.

For this month’s cover story, we have reunited Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones for a series of exclusive interviews to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Physical Graffiti – the immense double album that marked the loftiest peak of their formidable imperial phase. The three musicians take us far inside the album – but along the way, the story becomes unexpectedly reflective. It’s not simply that, 50 years on, Physical Graffiti continues to work its powerful magic on its principals. But as it deepens, our cover story often feels like an intricate study of the relationships between Plant, Page and Jones as it unfolds in Headley Grange, on the world’s largest stages or in the wilds of Morocco; three very different people whose passion for the work they achieved together remains as strong and unifying as ever. “I was never a great fan of other bands,” insists John Paul Jones. “I didn’t really go to concerts. I didn’t listen to other bands. I wasn’t interested because I wasn’t in them. I was a fan of Led Zeppelin, because I was in it.”

It’s nice that all three did some interviews for the 50th anniversary of a killer album. Though it would be better to have an official live release? It’s inconsolable one of the best bands has so few live releases. The Grateful Dead have made a career off their live releases.

Yes definitely, zeppelin were very much so a live ban always improvising an change every show in subtle was making every show a unit event keeping there music fresh .
I was 15 when that album came out. It was awesome. My favorite cut was Kashmir which never got any airtime because of its length. Anyway, they toured that year and me and some friends camped out at our local mall next to the Sears store which had a Ticketron station in it. The next morning they opened the store and we were able to score tickets and saw the boys on that Physical Graffiti tour. Great show! They opened up with “Rock and Roll” which really set the tone for the night. I saw them two more times…1977 and in Germany in 1980. Such a cool thing knowing I was seeing legends!

Bought the album same day it came out, $9 on special day of discount. I’m not sure what my favorite song was, I’m probably the only person who didn’t immediately live Kashmir.
Bron-Yr-Aur probably surprised me the most, so haunting.
In My Time of Dying such a tour de force on slide guitar.
Night Flight – a peppy, almost country/rock style made me want to dance
Black Country Woman and Boogie With Stu continued the acoustic attitude that made the band so much more than hard rock
I guess my favorite is Ten Years Gone – the lyrics and music blended perfectly. Jimmy out did himself on the layered guitars.
I could go on and on. Not a weak song on the album. Every one is a classic – during the 80s and 90s classic rock radio mined every song on the album.
I said I didn’t have a favorite and the The Rover kicked up in my head. So either that or Ten Years Gone.
As for Kashmir, the Unledded version finally did it for me. Guess my thick head finally found the spund
I saw them in February 75 before the album even came out. Didn’t realize at the time but it was going to be one of my favorites. But they’re all my favorites. Was blessed to see them in 71 for that Zeppelin 4 tour
after the lighter shades of music on the 3rd 4th and houses of holy album on physical graffiti zeppelin do what they do best making hard rock music there best album cant wait for this months uncut coming through my letter box
Heya, many thanks for letting us know that Page, Plant and Jones came together again for this interview. I’ll be on the lookout or order online. Very curious what they have to say about the development of the songs, in their own words. Is The Wanton Song about a succubus type lady? When do we get to hear the song “Going to Wales” (or something in that sense)?
I see Robert asking about a live release of the album. Not quite possible, I’m afraid, because not all of the songs were played live, and many are only bootleg quality. I can put a live PG together on my YouTube Channel, not sure whether Led Zep News will let me publish the name of my channel.
