Landover 1977

Previously unseen Super 8 footage of Led Zeppelin performing in Landover, Maryland on May 28, 1977 was published online to celebrate the concert’s anniversary.

The footage was shot by Bill “Wheelz” Wheeler and published online by LedZepFilm, who also synchronised the film to an audience recording of the concert.

“Just in time for the 48th anniversary, here’s some fantastic footage from Led Zeppelin’s third of four nights at the Capital Centre,” LedZepFilm wrote in the video’s description on YouTube. “This is the first of only four 1977 shows where Jimmy wore any part of the black dragon suit (at this show, he’d change out of it during the drum solo). It’s always amazing to see live footage of Led Zeppelin from so close up. I synced the film to the audience recording as the soundboard sonically falls a bit flat.”

  1. Wow so great to see, great memories!

  2. Wow, fantastic!!! I went to this concert! They played like 3 hrs. Straight! They were so nonstop and absolutely amazing! So glad I got to see them! Was screaming “Jimmy”, kind of looked over like yeal? But kept jamming w/Plants energy w/Jones and Bonham! They were the best and I am so glad I got to see them! They were nonstop playing and energy was so amazing!!!

    • I was there on the 27th or 28th of May, 1977. I know it had to be Friday or Saturday night because my Mom – bless her heart – wouldn’t let me drive her car on a weeknight. It was an event I’ll never forget. LZ rawks!

I was there on the last night which was the 30th of May

  4. I wish I was there. The kung fu chop Plant does during Song remains the same is funny but cool lol.

  5. This is fantastic footage. It really captures the coolness and magnetism Zep had. I love the acoustic section where there was a brief shot of Bonzo. Jimmy and Robert were the baddest front men in rock, imo. Loved seeing Jonesy with his triple necked guitar lol.

  6. I wish I was there too. Unfortunately, two of my friends and I had tickets to the 70,000+ Tampa Stadium show on June 3rd which was completely rained out after the third song (Nobody’s Fault but mine I guess, LOL), then the RIOT began. Lots of pissing and moaning! That was as close as I ever got to the MIGHTY ZEP MACHINE. I should have at least kept my ticket stub ($10.00 to see that show) but I was only 18 yrs. old and needed my refund so I had to send my stub back in to get it. Those 3 songs (TSRTS, the Rover & Nobody’s Fault) almost shook that fuckin stadium to the ground. Never saw anything like it before or since! My loss.
