A new piece of music titled “The Call” written by John Paul Jones will have its premiere in Helsinki on November 10, it has been announced.

The new music by Jones seems to be a piece of chamber music. It will be performed by Olivier Latry and Anssi Karttunen, not Jones himself, at the Hommage à Kaija Saariaho tribute concert in Helsinki.

Jones has travelled to Helsinki and was photographed attending rehearsals on November 8 ahead of the tribute show.

The concert will pay tribute to Kaija Saariaho, a Finnish composer who died in 2023.

Earlier this year, Jones performed as part of his musical project Sons of Chipotle at the Kaija Saariaho Festival in Amsterdam. He also played a surprise set at the festival with Finnish musician Tuomas Norvio.
