“Becoming Led Zeppelin” has been nominated for two more awards, it was announced this week.
The film has been nominated for the documentary screenplay category in the 2026 Writers Guild Awards, it was announced on January 27. The winners will be announced on March 8.
Also on January 27, it was announced that “Becoming Led Zeppelin” has been nominated for best edited documentary feature at the American Cinema Editors Eddie Awards. The winners will be announced on February 27.
The two new award nominations come after “Becoming Led Zeppelin” failed to bring in a nomination for best documentary at the BAFTA film awards, despite having been longlisted in the category earlier this month.
Sony Pictures Classics also issued a new press release looking back on the film’s box office and streaming success after the film brought in $16.1 million at the box office, according to The Numbers.
“In 2025, I genuinely didn’t believe it was financially viable to release a documentary in cinemas. The market had changed too much,” Tom Bernard, Co-President and Co-Founder of Sony Pictures Classics, said in the release. “But Bernard MacMahon’s passion, conviction, and belief in the theatrical experience persuaded me to take a chance – and it paid off with an extraordinary success.”
Also in the press release, John Turner, Head of Documentaries, IMAX, said: “Becoming Led Zeppelin is IMAX’s most successful documentary of 2025 and represents the biggest opening weekend ever for an exclusive music release of its kind. Filmmakers Allison McGourty and Bernard MacMahon designed their film with IMAX in mind and audiences responded in overwhelming numbers. For music documentaries in IMAX, this is just the beginning.”
