John Bonham’s hometown of Redditch has spent a full year attempting to reschedule a tribute to him after a 2025 event was cancelled at the last minute.
The launch of an immersive animation honouring Bonham along with a celebration of his life and career was due to take place on March 14, 2025 but was cancelled two days before it was due to take place.
Now, a full year after the event was scheduled to be held, a spokesperson for Redditch Borough Council told LedZepNews this week that “this event remains a priority for our teams. We are still actively engaging with our external stakeholders and will announce next steps as soon as we can”.
The cancelled event would have launched a new immersive animation of Bonham that was created using motion capture to film a drummer performing some of Bonham’s most iconic performances.
The completed animation was never launched and a web page for it has read “check back soon” since last year.

At the time of the event’s cancellation last year, Redditch Borough Council said that “we plan to reschedule it sooner rather than later and so that the current works taking place in the town centre will be completed.”
It remains unclear how much money was spent by Redditch Borough Council on the animation and the delayed tribute to Bonham.
Redditch Borough Council refused to disclose even a single document or email relating to the project in response to a Freedom of Information request filed last year by LedZepNews.
Following a request made by LedZepNews for an internal review of its decision not to disclose any material, the council said that “because the event in question did not go ahead, the details stay confidential, and are not published.”

Being a ZEP/JON-HENRY-BONHAM fan since their beginning
Bonzo The Hammer of the Gods
I wish I could have played like him.I was asked to audition for a tour with Robert Plant across North USA. But I couldn’t, as something else cropped up.
and you rook the “something else that cropped up” after the invite to Plant??? 🙄🙄🙄
@ Michael Avery – in your dreams probably.
Plenty of suspicious hate there, Hughie boy.
What an amazing way to pay tribute to an incredible man who wasn’t just a Drummer but father and husband. For some interesting articles about John Henry Bonham see Mannheim Diversified: Bonham of the Sunset strip! Where you can experience some real life stories with the Legend Himself.
They must be trying to drum up interest.
Who even is this.? No clue where this is either.??
You’re on ledzepnews.com and you don’t know who John Bonham is?
BONZO!!!#1 Not only did this man inspire me to play but he inspired a whole new way to play drums to all whoever picked up the sticks or pounded a skin .God Bless you John Henry Bonham
Its about time there was a proper Zep museum in Redditch. With the kits John used that are still in possession of his family. Would attract a lot of attention. Instead of a some what rather underwhelming 2D bronze sculpture. Augmented reality could be part of the museum to.
The secretive nature of all things Zeppelin is a bit exhausting. It’s never become easier as time passes.
Why not ask Jason to do the drum session for it?
He can play verbatim and with his Father’s passion.
One of the best drummers ever.
I saw Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Celebration 50th Aniversary of Physical Grafitti in Toronto’s Massey Hall 2025.The show was so good,I had to buy a poster commemorating the event. Robert Plant played the same place a few days Later, another poster of Plant’s tour also. A few days later there was an excellent cover band playing there also.A triple play Massey Hall will add to its Famously acoustic sound quality.
To me, Led Zeppelin were the perfect amalgamation of raw band talent, I saw them at Reading, I think (I was trashed as I had 3 kids in tow!
