The original promotional video for “Good Times, Bad Times”, which shows Led Zeppelin miming to the song on stage at Thee Image Club in Miami, Florida on February 14, 1969, has been discovered after more than 50 years.
A colour copy of the promotional film was discovered in the archives of the Atlanta music television show “The Now Explosion”, which are held at the Walter J. Brown Media Archive & Peabody Awards Collection at the University of Georgia.
The promotional film can be seen at 7:40 in the video linked here.
The footage emerged after Zep Head, a member of the official Led Zeppelin forum, requested that the archives digitise any footage mentioning Led Zeppelin that originated from the “Now Explosion” show, they explained.
“Then there was this. I was floored,” they posted on the forum. “Surely we’ve all seen the black and white ‘Communication Breakdown’ promo video that was shot in Miami in Feb 69. That grainy video. Turns out they mimed TWO songs that day. And ‘Good Times Bad Times’ was shot in color! Evidently Now Explosion acquired this footage way back when.”
It has been claimed that the promotional video was filmed for “The Rick Shaw Show”, which aired on Miami network WLBW. Rick Shaw, the show’s host, later become a host of “The Now Explosion” which began broadcasting on March 14, 1970.
As well as the “Good Times, Bad Times” promotional film, Led Zeppelin also shot a promotional video for “Communication Breakdown” on the same day. Black and white footage of that video has circulated widely for years and likely originates from a 1969 film cut together by Atlantic Records to promote the “Good Times, Bad Times” Japanese single released in July 1969.

That is pretty not good. But it’s good to see that era of the band.
Absolute GOLD, finding of footage of Good Tines Bad Times, in Color video.
I hope more of this type of Gold, has yet to be discovered.
You can hear my cheers in the 1977, “Destroyer” show in Cleveland. Section 110, Row H, Seat 8, said my ticket, not sure if I ever set down in the seat. It was cloudy inside.
