A 1972 Jensen Interceptor III car previously owned by John Bonham sold at auction on July 25 for £42,750.
The car had been given an estimate of between £40,000 and £50,000 by Iconic Auctioneers.
“Formerly owned by Led Zeppelin drummer, John Bonham, and the subject of more than £83,000 of restoration expenditure, this Interceptor III represents an opportunity to acquire a beautifully sorted example without the time, cost and uncertainty associated with undertaking such a project today,” the auction firm wrote in its description of the car.
The car was first registered on March 18, 1972 to Bonham’s business John Bonham Enterprises, paperwork included in the auction shows.
“When acquired by the current owner, the Jensen was effectively in barn find condition and in need of a comprehensive rebuild so an extensive three year restoration and improvement programme was subsequently undertaken between 2020 and 2023, with invoices totalling in excess of £83,000,” the auction firm wrote.
