Jason Bonham said he changed the name of his band because Led Zeppelin plans to use the name ‘Led Zeppelin Experience’

Jason Bonham explained in a new interview that he changed the name of his band because he was contacted by Led Zeppelin and informed that they plan to use the name “Led Zeppelin Experience.”

Bonham was interviewed by KSHE 95 which asked Bonham why he changed his band name from “Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience” to “Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening.”

The reason, Bonham said, was because of Led Zeppelin:

“They have plans for the terminology, Led Zeppelin Experience. And I was like, ‘Um, okay, but I need to keep the logo, JBLZE.’ One, I have the tag on my car, and two, I have a huge backdrop that I paid for last year. For me it’s about the music. So the name of it — I just wanted to keep the logo. So I said, ‘I got it. Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening.’ I don’t know what they have planned, but I said, ‘Okay, I will clear the way so they can do what they wish.'”

Bonham used the band name “Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience” since forming his band in 2010, but changed it in December for his upcoming tour with Foreigner and Whitesnake. The original band name is still featured on Bonham’s website, however.

  1. JBLZE has been growing in popularity. Looks like Led Zeppelin may be offended that he is doing so well. I mean they are Led Zeppelin, why would they need to use a name other than that?

  2. Call mr. Jimmy Page that’s a great idea a 50th year anniversary book” you’re joking right why not a 50th year anniversary performance it’s bad enough you robbed us or meaning the United States on the 30th anniversary 30th year anniversary you only performed in London what’s up with that and now you just want to give us a book come on Jimmy just like one of your songs sings Going to California. That would be a great place to sell your book at The Forum 6 nights of Led Zeppelin I could see it already Jimmy sold out it’s too bad mr. Peter grants not with us but you know what I learned a lot from him and I’m sure you would agree on what I’m saying right here six nights at The Forum bring the book publish it and sign it… Your number one fan Alan Herrera

  3. Well mr. Jimmy Page that sounds like a great idea let’s leave up us with a book a 50th Anniversary Book not a performance but a book come on Jimmy it’s bad enough you rob the United States out of the 30th year anniversary where you only performed in London what’s up with that and you just want to leave us a book come on Jimmy I’m sure Peter Grant was still around 46 nights sold out from your number one fan Allan Herrera….

  4. I really would like to hear that they are willing to close the door with zeppelin and do 2 last call shows at Cocella and say good night for the last time snd put everything to rest so they can retire in peace

  5. Some Led Zeppelin fans do nothing but belly-ache and whine…my god, it’s the 50th anniversary and there are already some great things coming out with more good stuff to come later on in the year, no doubt.
But hey, all you wet blankets, let’s all cry about everything instead. Everywhere you look in just about every LZ Facebook group, it’s the same bloody thing.

It’s a time of enjoyment and excitement for christ’s sake!!

  6. Reunion? Changing of Jason’s band name? Wow. Time is running out, I speak for all “LED HEADS” out there. Yes, true, they did a show in London, and not the U.S.A. (where they made their most money in the 70s) But it is time for a shirt 30 or 40 city tour of the U.S.A. This tour would be the biggest event of all time….it would be as big as “Woodstock”. Robert, Jimmy, J.P. and Jason could put such a mark on the music industry that would never be topped. Come on, Led Zeppelin could fly just one more time across the USA…The music, the show, the fans, the atmosphere…I can only imagine what it would be like. Is it the money? No, not at all. It all boils down to the music they gave us and the support that we as fans gave back, not just out of our wallet, but just the sharing with each other of how their music put a mark on us. They were the most powerful band on the planet, without media and announcements. We as fans spread the word about their up coming shows…we are the ones that “helped” them to get where they are at…..otherwise, Plant would still be playing with “THE BAND OF JOY” Sorry, heavy quote, I just speak the truth. I love Plant, but he needs to recognize his “ROOTS” and agree to do a TOUR OF THE MIGHTY LED ZEPPELIN, and thank Jimmy Patrick Page for the success he has now as a rock star. Again, just speaking the truth….I AM A NUMBER ONE FAN OF LED ZEPPELIN… Hey Robert? You know my phone number…call me. You know who I am…Peace, to all my “LED HEAD” brothers and sisters….

Let do what they want. I use to play that stuff. For me I think they should get back together again while they still alive. Because if they loose one more member that’s it they finish.

  8. I saw Led Zeppelin two nights in a row at the Fabulous Forum. Uh,can’t recall if it was 74 or 75.But it was a great time .The band played an acoustic set. They rocked the house down! Went back the following notes show and did it again man!

  9. Bloody hell, I forgot to say they played their normally bad ass electric set then played acoustic music then rocked electric again .It don’t get heavier than Led Zeppelin man.Ever. sorry bout the correction! Cheers mate.

  10. I speak as a true Zeppelinist the Book is a great 50 th gift to all of us fans but if there is a concert give us all a chance to come. It can’t be done so just film another show and we can cry but I still watch every show that were filmed.

  11. So Jason Bonham legally registers HIS (working) band as “JBLZ Experience” replete with a logo & brand awareness and later the (retired) “Led Zeppelin” camp decides they might want to use 1/2 of HIS bands name, for some obscure project? He agrees, not to ruin a chance that they could all reunite, which the fans desperately are hoping for. Right now, Jason Bonham’s band is the only Led Zeppelin EXPERIENCE out there. If they don’t use the name soon he should take it back.

  12. So Jason legally used the name from 2010 to 2018. It’s almost 2024, 6 years after he relinquished it to them, where is the Led Zeppelin Experience? Will it be the tribute band’s name, when original Zeppelin’s kids hire studio musicians to tour under?
