Jason Bonham has abruptly cancelled his upcoming tour dates and flown to the UK due to a family emergency amid rumours that his mother Pat Bonham is seriously ill.

Jason Bonham pulled out of performing as part of Sammy Hagar’s band, with drummer Kenny Aronoff taking his place on the tour beginning on August 27.

In an Instagram comment earlier this week, Bonham wrote: “I’m in Uk with my family as we navigate a very difficult situation. I need all your prayers right now”.

Speaking on stage on August 27, Hagar said: “Tonight I’m going to dedicate this to the Bonham family in England. Hope everything works out okay over there, and to our brother Jason.”

Social media posts have claimed that Pat Bonham, the 76-year-old widow of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham and the mother of Jason Bonham and his sister Zoe, is seriously ill.

“Kenny Aronoff is replacing Jason Bonham tonight as Jason rushes home to be with his family as his mother begins the process of saying goodbye to the world,” local radio DJ Nudge Adam Medley posted on Facebook before the August 27 show.

No member of the Bonham family has confirmed the nature of the family emergency publicly and LedZepNews has been unable to independently confirm the claims of Pat Bonham’s ill health.

In an Instagram comment posted earlier this week regarding Jason Bonham’s absence from his tour, Hagar wrote: “Prayers for his mother in order my friend.”

As well as cancelling his participation in Hagar’s upcoming tour dates, Bonham has also cancelled September shows with his own band, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening.

The band’s September 8 show in Jacksonville, Oregon was cancelled this week, with the venue posting on Facebook: “Due to a sudden and unforeseen family emergency, Jason Bonham will be stepping away from his drum kit for the next few weeks. This means Jason will be missing the remaining US dates with Sammy Hagar as well as having to cancel his upcoming JBLZE appearances in September. Jason and his family ask for privacy during this time.”
