‘Becoming Led Zeppelin’ will be released in May

Becoming Led Zeppelin

“Becoming Led Zeppelin”, the feature-length documentary about the origins of Led Zeppelin, will finally be released in cinemas in May, LedZepNews has learned.

Portuguese film industry website filmSPOT has published a Portuguese release date for the film of May 15. LedZepNews has checked the other film release dates published by the site and they look accurate, albeit they are all listed as one day ahead of the official release dates. Because of this, we’re assuming “Becoming Led Zeppelin” will be released on May 16.

The emergence of a release date for “Becoming Led Zeppelin” comes on the same day that the film’s US distributor Sony Pictures Classics updated its website to feature the film on the homepage with a new logo.

A new trailer for “Becoming Led Zeppelin” was shown in a US cinema on October 24 ahead of a screening of “Venom: The Last Dance”.

Journalist David Taylor reported on Twitter that the “Becoming Led Zeppelin” trailer announced that the film would be screened in IMAX, something that fits with comments made by Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson earlier this month.

In a reply to LedZepNews, Taylor said the trailer was an extended version of the teaser released in 2021 which adds footage of new interviews with the members of Led Zeppelin. The new trailer says the film will be released in 2025 but provides no exact release date.

Sam Rapallo, the administrator of Led Zeppelin’s official forum, confirmed that a new trailer has been created for the film. “I literally had tears of joy watching the new trailer,” he wrote online. “Everything about it is so compelling: the editing, the selected clips, the sound, the overall ‘look’ of it. Brilliantly done – Bravo!”

It was announced in May that the film had been sold to the distributor Sony Pictures Classics for a US release. And in June further distribution deals were announced for other markets. No UK distributor has been announced so far.

Work began on the film in 2018, LedZepNews has previously reported, with a public announcement of the then-untitled project made on May 9, 2019.

“Becoming Led Zeppelin” had its premiere on September 4, 2021 in Venice but the film was then re-edited to add further footage.

  9. Big fan, but, It’s hard to believe that there is anything new to see . There’s so much online that I am thinking this movie will be a tidy package of all the internet in one handy place. But, are there enough Stoners to go to theatres instead of rolling there own at home on video? Doubtfully.

  10. Finally, I am so excited about the news. It is happening before it is too late for Jimmy.
