“Mr. Jimmy”, the feature-length documentary film about Jimmy Page tribute artist Akio Sakurai, will get a worldwide Blu-ray release.

The film had an initial Blu-ray and DVD release in Japan on July 2, but will now receive a global Blu-ray release.

Details of the new Blu-ray release were first revealed by Tight But Loose editor Dave Lewis who recorded a commentary track for the release.

“Another extra feature will be the Q and A interview I hosted with Peter at the UK showing at Olympic Studios of the film back in October 2023,” Lewis wrote. He’s also contributing sleeve notes for the Blu-ray’s physical packaging.

Director Peter Michael Dowd confirmed the upcoming release to LedZepNews, explaining that it will also include deleted scenes and the London Q&A footage which were included on the Japanese physical release earlier this year.

The film, released in September 2023, follows Sakurai as he leaves his native Japan and attempts to make a career in the US by closely copying everything from Page’s stage presence to his clothes and instruments.

LedZepNews spoke to Sakurai and Dowd in October 2023. “My Jimmy Page quest never ends,” Sakurai told us. “The more I chase him, the more I realise I am not like him at all. He’s too cool,” he added. “I really want to become like him, but I never could be.”
