82 recently surfaced photographs provide a rare fan perspective of Led Zeppelin performing at Madison Square Garden in New York on July 27 and July 28, 1973.

The photographs were taken by a fan known only as “Aldo B” who attended the shows. He then gave his slides to Bobby G, a veteran member of the For Badgeholder’s Only (FBO) Led Zeppelin email list.

“I met him about 15 years ago as a customer in my pizzeria,” Bobby G wrote in an email later shared through FBO. “I had a few framed Zeppelin posters in the store and they stoked up a lot of conversations.”

“Aldo was a regular and oddly he never noticed the posters until one night,” he continued. “He told me he saw them play in 73 at MSG when they were filming the concert for the ‘movie’. He said he took photos in color and b&w and that he developed the film in his basement dark room but he never made any prints from the negatives. At the time he didn’t trust sending them out to be printed and he no longer had his dark room.”

The photographs were first published on the FBO list in July after they were restored by Nech Tytla, one of the administrators of the email list.

Bobby G and Tytla have kindly allowed LedZepNews to publish the photographs online, allowing more Led Zeppelin fans to see the images.

LedZepFilm assisted by ordering the photographs, sharing date and song information for each image.

  1. Grew up listing to Zep. Jimmy is and always SHALL BE THE MASTER OF ROCK

  2. It looks so much less grandiose than what we see in TSRTS.

    • These stage setups before 1975 were basic by today’s staging.
The movie closeups made the boys look larger than life. But being there, which I was, was more of a cerebral, hypnotic scene.

  3. I was at that show in 73. I was 14.

  4. Thanks James for spreading the Zeppelin love.

    Peace to all

  5. I was there, front of stage, just a kid. I took pics, too. I also shot the band exiting the Drake after the robbery. They’re very rare pictures.
