A new box set is being released to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the 1970 Bath Festival, which featured a performance by Led Zeppelin.
The box set, which is available to order here from Music Glue, includes a signed and numbered certificate, a triple CD set, a reproduction 1969 programme, a reproduction 1970 programme, reproduction tickets for both festivals, A3 reproduction posters for both festivals, reproduction fliers and a 16-page anniversary book containing text written by promoter Freddy Bannister along with photos.
The box set will be released on November 27 and a range of other merchandise commemorating the anniversary is also available to purchase.
Bannister, the organiser of the Bath and Knebworth festivals, died aged 85 on August 11, 2019, 40 years to the day after Led Zeppelin performed their second show at the 1979 Knebworth Festival.
Parts of Led Zeppelin’s performance at the 1970 Bath Festival were filmed but the footage has never been released.
It was revealed in 2017 that 20-30 minutes of colour footage of Led Zeppelin at the festival, including the band’s performance and backstage footage, exists in director Peter Whitehead’s archive.
The fate of the footage, including whether Led Zeppelin plans to release it officially or include it in the band’s upcoming documentary, is unclear following the death of Whitehead on June 10, 2019.
Why mention it? Zep isn’t anywhere on the CD set.
