In 2010, musician Jake Holmes filed a lawsuit in California accusing Jimmy Page, Led Zeppelin and Atlantic Records of infringing his copyright by failing to properly credit him for writing “Dazed and Confused”.

Holmes had written and released the original version of “Dazed and Confused” on his 1967 debut album, a song Page would then perform with The Yardbirds until the group split up in 1968.

By 2000, The Yardbirds had given Holmes a songwriting credit for the track. But Led Zeppelin releases gave Page the sole songwriting credit for the band’s version of “Dazed and Confused”.

A settlement between Page and Holmes was reached on September 6, 2011 and the case was then dismissed as a result in 2012. Subsequent Led Zeppelin releases modified the songwriting credit for “Dazed and Confused”, changing it to read “Jimmy Page, inspired by Jake Holmes”.

With Holmes filing a second lawsuit over “Dazed and Confused” on May 5, this 2010 legal action is back in the spotlight. LedZepNews has obtained the legal filings from the case and is publishing them below to help further public understanding of the case.
