Jimmy Page was interviewed about Physical Graffiti for a new book

Jimmy Page was interviewed about the making of Physical Graffiti for the latest book published by journalist and author Dylan Jones.

Writing on Instagram, Jones said that he spoke to Page for his new book “1975: The Year the World Forgot” which was published on June 12.

“Thank you to Jimmy Page for talking me through the process of delivering Physical Graffiti,” Jones wrote. “This was zenith rock. Mount Rushmore rock. By 1975, Led Zeppelin were music’s great colossus, the perennial soundtrack to mayhem and carnage, a swashbuckling band yoked to all manner of imaginary rampaging hordes. They were the hard rock thunderous blitzkrieg, a gang of marauding Viking warriors (albeit in double denim), the template of seventies’ orthodoxy and the bar by which every other rock group was then judged. Little did they know it, but they were about to reach their peak. Read all about it in my new book 1975”

The interview with Jones is the second recent interview about Physical Graffiti that Page has carried out. Page, along with Robert Plant and John Paul Jones, were all interviewed about the album for Uncut Magazine’s April 2025 issue, number 349.

  1. 1975 was indeed the Zenith for Led Zeppelin.

I was lucky enough to catch thier LAST performance in England at Knebworth on August 11th, 1979.

I was also Honored to meet Robert Plant outside the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham England after a “The Firm” Concert in May of 1985. He “just came to see Jimmy play”!!

Good Days, NOT to be Repeated!!

  2. gee i went to that gig as well and robert plant was there after all these years i never new wonder if any other famous names were there

  3. I’m looking forward to reading this book about 1975. However, if you look at the sheer volume of landmark and defining rock albums, 1971 was actually “the year”.

Physical Graffiti is the penultimate Zep album IMO.

  6. No offense, but i think Zeppelin 2 is their best album.

  7. Physical Graffiti er etter min mening det beste album. Dette viser hvor stort spenn Led Zeppelin behersker innen mange forskjellige stilarter

  8. Zeppelin set the bar as far as fock bands are concerned . I was fortunate to see them in 72 in Germany and 78 in the US. They are my favorite rock band …phenomenal artists and musicians. Jimi Hendrix was and still is the GOAT when speaking of artists and guitarists…but Zeppelin is still the greatest rock band to ever play . I look forward to reading the book. It will be a trip down memory lane .I love Phydical Grafitti as well , it is one of their finest .it’s difficult to pick their best as they produced such timeless masterpieces. Jam on Zeppelin .

Physical graffiti was definitely their best work, and showed the musical maturity.many different styles of music, sometimes jumping from one style to another mid song along with many different times signatures.Thete are alot of great bands out there, but I always go back to Zeppelin. They had a great chemistry, and produced some mind blowing music.
