Robert Plant said ‘most people’ miss the greatest Led Zeppelin songs

Robert Plant said in a new interview with Mojo Magazine that “most people” miss the greatest songs Led Zeppelin made.

Speaking in a cover story published in Mojo’s October 2025 issue, Plant said that “most people have missed some of the best Zeppelin stuff.”

“‘For Your Life’, on Presence. ‘Achilles Last Stand!’ Fucking hell,” Plant continued. “Just extraordinary that three people and a singer can do that. Really, they were pulling so much stuff out of the unknown, Bonham and Jones together on ‘For Your Life’. It’s just insane. And Jimmy, just… (exhales).”

Mojo asked Plant whether he was ever content just to play Led Zeppelin’s hits in his solo career.

“What were the hits? How can they be related to now, where do they fit? They fit as a sort of memoir,” Plant replied. “When people say that I don’t like ‘Stairway To Heaven’, I just don’t like the idea of it. These iconic things – they’re just what they are.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Plant again expressed his support for Bruce Springsteen’s recent comments on US politics.

“There are people I know that say I should say what I think, but there’s so many strands to it,” Plant said. “It’s a slow death of everything we ever loved. From an American viewpoint, I could only add my support to Bruce Springsteen because he actually knows it, he lives in it.”

In May, Plant publicly expressed his support for Springsteen after he delivered a series of speeches opposing Donald Trump.

While introducing the song “Friends” during his performance with Saving Grace in Tampere, Finland on May 18, Plant said: “Right now in England, which is where we come from – not quite the land of the ice and snow, Bruce Springsteen is touring right now in the UK and he’s putting out some really serious stuff. So tune in to him. And let’s all hope that we can be…” The band then began performing “Friends”.

Plant’s comments were in reference to speeches Springsteen delivered during his European tour. In the tour’s opening show in Manchester in the UK on May 14, Springsteen said: “In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration. Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring!”

Trump responded to Springsteen’s speeches in a post on the Truth Social website, calling him “highly overrated” and “dumb as a rock”.

  1. Led Zeppelin reminds me of a time in my life that was simple, sweet, full of sex, drugs, & rock n roll and not a care in my world. Robert Plant is so special to me & alot of people because he follows his heart & plays what music feels right to him at this time in his life. I admire him for moving forward & respecting Led Zeppelin & what it brought to so many people in the 60s & 70s. Great times in alot of people’s lives. His own included I’m sure. I still get goose bumps when Led Zep comes on the radio. Always will. It feels like I’m 17 again! Young, happy, in love, free.

I saw Led Zeppelin the first time they came to San Francisco. I heard this voice and I walked across this old wooden floor to the stage and looked up at this gorgeous man with flowing strawberry blonde curls wrapped around the microphone it was as if he was singing to me I’ll never forget Led Zeppelin

  3. It will Sound daft to some people but I still think Zeppelin and the Beatles are two of the most underrated artists ever.

  4. There will never be another band like Led Zeppelin. Growing up in London I saw them live on 4 occasions. Unbelievable talent from all of them. Robert had an amazing range, so glad he has kept on singing. Keep on rocking xxx

    • I love led zeppelin’s music, But as far as donald trump I love donald trump because he’s trying to improve this country

  5. So funny 😁 Plant’s not liking the idea of Stairway despite it being the groundwork for an album titled Houses Of The Holy. Truly clueless about the heaviness of the times back then . Not to mention the huge financial gains from the concept.

    • Stairway was the groundwork for Houses…? Interesting thought. Architecturally if not in any sonic, or musical way.

  6. Plant is dead on about people missing Zep’s great tracks… also on Presence is Hots on for Nowhere, a super banger! And Tea for One, subtle but so good. And from Physical Graffiti, Sick Again… yikes, a brand new groove still undiscovered. Those are just a few.

  7. See, Jimmy is smart enough to not fkn go there. Robert is as smart as Trump said Bruce is. Really bad idea Bobby

  8. I agree with Robert, I listen to my favorite Zeppelin tunes daily. But please give credit to the backbone of the group, John Paul Jones.

  9. I wish he didn’t comment on American politics. Springsteen is a worthless elite who doesn’t know anything about the middle class. I’m disappointed. Like them all, he just alienated half of his audience.

  10. Bad idea ot support Springsteen Robert
Better to stay out of politics Bob

Springsteen has been out of touch with the homeland for mAny many years now. Disheartening to hear Percy go there. I can overlook it as long as it doesn’t become a habit.

Led zeppelin provided a place to lose yourself, and still does.Such talent just wish ld seen them live as a band but what a treat that Robert tours with other collaborations and we get to indulge ourselves at smaller venues, lower cost but still as memorable. Political views..can if he wants..Rock on..

  13. I wouldn’t ask the question “When are you going back to Led Zeppelin?”
    I would instead, ask this.
“After all these years of writing songs, fronting bands, going solo, performing with Alison Krauss, when will you go forward to Led Zeppelin with all this experience & write more epics like Kashmir?”

  14. Who really cares about Robert plant’s political stance. I for one don’t! If you want to see led Zeppelin perform go see the led Zeppelin experience by Jason Bonham.
He will actually play Achilles last stand and not miss a beat!!

  15. its easy to get spoiled by all the stuff played on the radio. But Achillies Last Stand is by far the greatest Zep tune…Carouselambra, In the Evening, In the Light, Night Flight, Wanton Song…basically everything on CODA…Royal Orleans…i could go on an on…even though i find myself not listening to Zep as much as I used to, its a band id love to see live, but will probably never get the chance.

    • Trying to name which Zep song was the best is fairly pointless. Everyone has a favourite but that’s completely different. All of them were just brilliant for different reasons. I have heaps of favourites but if I had to one it’d be the Rover….such a brilliant underated classic.

  16. I love Robert Plant but very disappointed that he tells us to listen to the idiot Springsteen. Stay out of American politics, Robert. I do not support Roger Waters at all anymore due to his political rantings against Trump.

I’ve loved led zeppelin since I first herd them as a child!!!! Why Mr Plant do you disgrace yourself by associating yourself with the likes of bruce Springsteen?? Bruce is out of line and you are to Rubber tree plant!!! I’ll never ever look at you the same way!!! Trump Loves The United States Of America!!!! Fights for all that is sacred FOR THE CITIZENS!!! ALL OF THE CITIZENS!!! EVEN THOSE THAT HATE HIM!!! RUBBER…. YOU SHOULD SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!! Trump!!! One of the Greatest Presidents ever!!!

  18. It’s interesting that “homeland, grassroots, common” people are defending Trump. The man never gave a damn for the working class until he found a way to utilize them to gain power( money). He does not have this countrys’ best interests in mind. Only his own.

    • Beth if you’re wondering why working class people support Trump, it’s not difficult. The people you vote for made trade deals that left the working class in large swaths of this country with nothing but empty factories, hollowed out towns, joblessness and addiction. Using tariffs as leverage, Trump is doing the hard work of TRYING to reverse this. It’s not easy nor is it guaranteed to work, but it is more than either party has done on behalf of the American working class in decades.

Oh, and his net worth dropped when he became President. You may have him confused with the Clintons, Obama, and Bidens when you suggest he views politics as a means to getting rich, which we all know he already was.

Rock on and have a great day!

My favourite Zeppelin album is Presence and I love ‘ For Your Life ‘ favourite song ………

  21. Absolutely right that people miss their best songs.

-“For Your Life” was my favorite off Presence the first time I ever listened to the album.
-“In The Light” has one of the nastiest riffs I’ve ever heard.
-“Down By The Seaside” is subtle but the bridge takes the listener on a quick adventure that shifts the mood of the song entirely
-Even though the album is somewhat looked down upon at times, “Carouselambra” off ITTOD is quite a bold track that seems to never get boring every time I hear it.

Friends, Rain Song, Sick Again, Out On The Tiles, Four Sticks, Hots On For Nowhere, What Is and What Should Never Be, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp etc…Every album contains top tier music.

  22. I am 70 years old and I have been listening to both Led Zeppelin @ B. Sprinstin my whole life. If you want to understand the sorry Republicans in this country and it’s supporter’s from the U.K. play Born in the U.S.A. if that doesn’t show you where the punk ass Republican Mind set is then you are ether a idiot or the rock the people who don’t understand fully are the dumbest ones and it’s not a bad thing everyone has an area in life they don’t understand. Born down in a dead man’s town the first kick I had was when I hit the ground.Beat up like a dog that’s been beat to much till you spend half life just covered in blood now born in the U.S.A.I was born in the U.S.A.now.. That tells all you need to know about the rep party in the 60s and 70s.Why do you think the Bruse was nix named the Boss ?. I don’t have a favorite L.Z. song they all mean the same to me. If I had to pick one I Stue the song about Robert.s dog. Think about it going down country lanes just calling your name. I was there in Oakland Cal. In 1975 Robert Plant.s son died from a child hood problem and Bill Gharme fuck that dude made L.Z. do there show. I was back stage on Sunday when John Henry Bonhom was taken to jail for a problem that was started by Grahams crew.Thats the rep. Party in all it’s glory.Bruse. John B. John Paul.Jimmy. Robert.from the bottom of my heart Thank-you for a lifetime of better living and happiness.
