Led Zeppelin will release a new live album this year — and more releases are planned over the next 10 years

Led Zeppelin will release a live album later this year, Jimmy Page confirmed in a new interview with Planet Rock Magazine.

Page spoke to the magazine for its sixth issue, and Music Week published some of his comments ahead of the magazine’s release on February 16.

“I can’t give the game away,” Page said, “but there’s a recording that’s another multi-track that we’ll release. It’s so different to all the other things that are out there. It’s another view compared to How The West Was Won or The Song Remains The Same. I’m looking forward to people hearing that.”

Page also said that he has plans to continue releasing Led Zeppelin material over the next 10 years. “There’s a lot of stuff to come out, a number of releases,” Page said. “I’d like to say that they’ll be coming out over the next 10 years. There’s more to come for sure.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Page was asked for his thoughts on whether Led Zeppelin would ever reunite and perform again. “I very much doubt it,” Page said. “You’ve just got to face facts. We’ve gone past the tenth anniversary of the 02, where we managed to do one serious concert. That’s the only thing that we’ve done for such a long time, so I very much doubt we’ll do anything else. I really think the time has gone.”

Photographer Ross Halfin posted a photo of inside of the magazine on Facebook. He said he photographed Page in London earlier this month for the issue:

And Page also complained that Led Zeppelin is being “ripped off” by the upcoming books being released for Led Zeppelin’s fiftieth anniversary. Page praised the official Led Zeppelin book, which is scheduled to be released in October.

“I’m really pleased that we’re all doing it collectively because there are so many other people doing books,” Page said. “There’s about 10 that I know of that are coming, which is pretty ridiculous! It will be really good to have an authoritative book, where the band are actually contributing to it rather than being ripped off.”

The full interview with Page will be available to read in the sixth issue of Planet Rock Magazine, which will be released on February 16. The interview with Page is part of a 22-page cover feature on Led Zeppelin.

The magazine will be released in four cover variants, one for each of the members of Led Zeppelin using their symbols from Led Zeppelin’s fourth album:

The sixth issue of Planet Rock Magazine is available to be purchased online at Great Magazines for £5 per issue. You can buy all four cover variants together with a 25% discount using the code “PLANET25” at checkout. The magazine will be released in stores on February 16.

  1. Thank you Mr. Page for finally telling some Led Zeppelin History we want you to know we Zeppelinists still care deeply about the band.

  2. Jimmy Page has admitted he was a hoarder of everything Led Zeppelin so it’s exciting to know some of this material will finally be released to the public. It will be great to see if Zeppelin can generate new fans that have no clue what a real band sounds like.

  3. That’s great to hear! I saw you all in Tulsa,Ok in the early 70’s, great music. I still listen to it at 71 yr old.

  4. Hi there,

JP missed this book and he’d love it!

  6. Can’t wait!

  7. génial encore du son à entendre, the best groupe

  8. Big fan glad to hear the, authentic Zeppelin book will be released in October. I hope the next live release is either Knebworth 79 or maybe Tampa,75.

  9. Please, re release LZ “DVD” as a Blu Ray!

Jimmy, you are the greatest Guitar player of all time, thanks for being the soundtrack to my life!

I’m very excited just imagining watching and listening to the Zeppelin Led Band…

  11. Yup Jimmy is the greatest rock guitarist of all time! Should be number 1 on Rolling Stone’s list. Let’s also place Mr Page as one of the greatest rock producers of all time! I’ll always remember Zep 77 at MSQ!
Ramble On! Jimmy could you sign all my remastered box sets?

    • Page is the best guitarist I’m a long time Page fan and Zeppelinists and I was amazed at the Picker in the Yardbirds carried that lo for 50 year keep playing at home Mr. Page.

  12. Well he has released 69-71 BBC sessions, 72 live, 73 -soundtrack, and bits of 72,73,75,79 on the dvd. So that leaves 77 and 80 with no official releases. Will we finally see Seattle 77? or Europe 80? or a complete official Knebworth on cd vs dvd? or Earls Court? the pain of waiting continues

Isn’t it now obvious? The “new” release will be Osaka ’71. Leaked samples have been circulating for months now. Nothing new to see here folks, just another badly edited and compressed 4 track recording from the Caveman. Add to this an over-priced coffee table book with a one paragraph blurb from Jimmy. What else can you expect when a dead cow has been successfully milked for 38 years?

  14. Does anyboday has any news on this? I mean there should be released Bath 70 on Blu Ray, LZ Scandinavian Tour 68 on Vinyl, or any other Soundboards not on boots released already!
Even if they are incomplete we need it! Do not edit like RAH 70 or Paris Oct 69 or HTWWW.
For example the Metallica Super Deluxe releases some Masterpieces.
Please the same for any Zepstuff!

  15. Thank you Jimmy. You have no idea how long and iv’e longed for more Zeppelin. I’ve been a fan since i heard that riff ( Whole Lotta Love ) back in 69. I live and breath Led Zeppelin, converted one of my grandchildren too.
    Very best regards

  16. So its March 2019 and no new Live albums have emerged. Jimmy ALWAYS does this! In fact nothing came out for their 50th annv. in late 2018. Why? Is all of this delay due to the Stairway Trial?? Come on Jimmy! Let us know whats going on.

Greg – agreed. Jimmy has also said that he would be releasing new music of his own and touring for several years now. I’m sure he has the best of intentions, but I hope we get some type of definitive answer & some new Jimmy solo and/or live Zep music before it’s too late. He ain’t getting any younger (are any of us?)

nothing again plants vetod it again you can bet

    • H T W W W is such a milestone and eye opener to the newer generations. There was almost 30 years between the 2 live LP’s. We do need more of em.

  18. Why does anyone still believe anything Jimmy Page says.

  19. That’s fantastic news. More live sets. It’s well over due. 1977, or 1971 ?

    • Tony – not sure if you actually read the article but it’s originally from 2018 and there’s obviously been no live Zeppelin or Page music since then. Not holding my breath for anything new from him except for the supposedly-coming-soon Becoming Led Zeppelin film.

      • If you can believe it, I’ve only just got this. Now I’ve gone further than just the headline I can see. 2018
Thanks for the heads up. It’s been a long day lol. The embarrassment of my lack of observation is only overshadowed by the fact that ……. there’s going to be no new stuff. What a BUMMER. Well I’m obviously Mr current affairs.
Is Richard Nixon still the president of America
