John Paul Jones has worked with Robyn Hitchcock to record a cover of the Syd Barrett song “Gigolo Aunt” for a new tribute album.
The cover appears on the album Clowns and Jugglers (The Songs of Syd Barrett) which will be released on October 9.
Sales of the tribute album will raise money for mental health charities, according to an announcement.
The album is available to pre-order on CD, on black vinyl, on deluxe coloured vinyl and as a deluxe vinyl and CD bundle.
Jones has frequently performed with Hitchcock over the years, including appearing on stage with him in 2007 and 2008 as well as in 2012.
Hitchcock will also release a live version of “Gigolo Aunt” on his album Live at Acheron on July 3.
