Customers who pre-ordered Robert Plant’s new album with Alison Krauss from Dig’s website have been sent emails informing them that there will be no UK headline shows for Plant and Krauss.
The email, sent after Dig initially advertised presale access for UK shows with pre-orders of the album, was sent before Plant suggested on BBC radio that there actually will be more UK shows.
The situation has resulted in confusion, with fans concerned that the only show Plant and Krauss will play in the UK will be supporting The Eagles at BST Hyde Park in London on June 26.
Dig initially mentioned UK Plant and Krauss shows
Dig, an online music store run by Warner Music, had for weeks advertised an offer on its website informing customers that they could “pre-order ‘Raise the Roof’ for early access to future Robert Plant and Alison Krauss UK and European tour dates.’
The promotion was displayed on the Dig website until at least November 13 but was then removed and replaced with this message that deleted the reference to UK shows: “Order ‘Raise The Roof’ for early access to Robert Plant & Alison Krauss European tour headline shows.”
When Plant and Krauss announced their 2022 world tour on November 19, the day of the release of “Raise The Roof,” the only UK show listed was a previously announced slot supporting The Eagles at BST Hyde Park in London on June 26.
Fans who pre-ordered “Raise The Roof” through Dig were then sent this email:
Thank you for pre-ordering ‘Raise The Roof’ from the Dig! Store.
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss European tour headline show dates have been announced today, with tickets to go on sale next week.
Due to the ongoing pandemic and the interest in the safety of fans, Alison and Robert made the decision to move all their tour dates to open outdoor shows and festival appearances which has meant that there will not be any UK Robert Plant & Alison Krauss headline shows. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
However, UK fans that pre-ordered the album via Dig! are eligible to purchase presale tickets for the European headline shows and will receive access information ahead of the European presale.
Robert Plant has hinted at more UK shows
So, according to Dig, there aren’t any plans for Plant and Krauss headline shows in the UK. But then Plant appeared on “The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show” on BBC Radio 2 on November 23 and hinted that there will be more UK shows announced soon.
“Well, it’s very likely,” Plant said when asked about announcing more UK shows with Krauss. “But, you know, all through this morning’s show I’ve heard how many things are secret, how many things can we not tell anybody. So the answer is yes but the detail is at the moment vague.”
Ball told Plant that she hopes he’ll play “on a farm” soon, a clear reference to Glastonbury Festival in the UK.
“Well, I do love agriculture,” Plant replied.
Glastonbury Festival is due to take place on June 22-26, exactly the time that Plant and Krauss will be in the UK for their Hyde Park show on June 26.
Here’s the key detail: Plant may be hinting at specifically UK festival shows that haven’t yet been announced, meaning Dig remains correct in saying “there will not be any UK Robert Plant & Alison Krauss headline shows.”
