Jimmy Page is in ‘active discussions’ to perform at the Desert Trip festival — or is it Led Zeppelin-related?

A rumour circulated on Friday afternoon that Jimmy Page is in “active discussions” to perform at the Desert Trip festival in 2018.

The Desert Trip festival, sometimes known as “Oldchella,” plays host to established classic rock artists. The festival’s first year in 2016 saw The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, Neil Young, and The Who perform at the event.

However, the “active discussions” that Jimmy Page is currently involved in may instead be about activity surrounding Led Zeppelin’s fiftieth anniversary, Led Zeppelin podcast Ramble On Radio said in its latest episode.

Host Brian Gardiner said in his podcast that the “Oldchella” rumour is a euphemism, and instead the rumour is about possible future Led Zeppelin activity planned for 2018.

What’s not clear right now is what the rumoured discussions are about. They could be about a one-off show, a series of shows, or even the release of new material. The only thing we know for sure is that it’s still early days.

  1. dont talk to much pagey
just do it or shut up 🙂

  2. Won’t happen.
Dare I say it I don’t think he’ll tour again but it kills him to admit it.

  3. Who cares? I’ve been one of Jimmy’s biggest fans since 1969, but whilst for the last umpteen years he has been travelling around the world picking up tin pot awards for stuff he did in the 1970’s, Robert Plant, and to a lesser extent John Paul Jones has been out there doing it on stage nearly every week, even if it’s for only 300 people.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Jimmy, but he really needs to get off his backside, out of the mixing studio and back on stage where he belongs before it’s too late.

  4. He needs to hook up with David Coverdale again. That was the last time he really came up with good guitar riffs! Forget the coverversion accusations. Coverdale established himself as a goid vocalist back with Deep Purple. Make it happen “led wallet”

    • That David Coverdale project was awesome. I think Page and Coverdale should work together again, also. Coverdale is a legend.

  5. Will Jimmy actually play? That remains to be seen, as he has said he’ll have a band together, and play live dates for the past several years, and it never comes to pass. I will believe it, when I see it.
