A new 1975 soundboard tape is being released soon

Led Zeppelin Empress Valley Jesus bootleg

Japanese bootleg label Empress Valley is preparing to release a soundboard recording of Led Zeppelin’s January 18, 1975 performance in Minneapolis, according to multiple forum posts and an email from a bootleg distributor.

The label included a teaser leaflet in its latest “Maryland Moonshine Matrix” CD release that hinted at a Led Zeppelin announcement on May 21:

Ahead of that unveiling, forum posts and an email from a bootleg distributor have claimed that the announcement will be that Empress Valley is releasing the soundboard recording of the January 18, 1975 show after snippets of the tape emerged last year.

Empress Valley will release the show in a bootleg titled “Jesus” which will also include the recently released audience recording of the same show that emerged online in April via the Dogs of Doom group.

Here’s where things get a bit confusing: Empress Valley released another box set titled “Jesus” in October which included the soundboard recording of Led Zeppelin’s March 24, 1975 Los Angeles show. The new box set with the same name is being styled as the “blue box” version of “Jesus.”

Several snippets from a soundboard tape of the January 18, 1975 show were released on a non-label bootleg CD last year that was titled “Wanton Song.” After that CD was released, a YouTube video emerged that included other snippets of the same tape.

Here’s a collection of the soundboard snippets from the same show that were released online last year:

And here’s the audience tape of the show that was released online in April:

According to the rumours, here’s the tracklist for the new “Jesus” release:

Hey Rob why don’t you and Jim suck it up for the fans and do about 12 dates in the U.S. Any bass player will do and please bring along Jason. We deserve it.

  5. I was at this show- the set-list is either incomplete and as with other purported versions, this is not from the Met Center show that I attended. The absolute high-light was “Dazed and Confused” into Moby Dick
