Robert Plant joined Mike Sanchez on stage in Kidderminster on August 21, videos and photographs from the performance show.
Plant made an unannounced surprise appearance at Sanchez’s show at Kidderminster Town Hall, where he joined the band for eight songs lasting more than 20 minutes.
The below video shows Plant performing songs including Led Zeppelin’s “Rock And Roll” along with Howlin’ Wolf’s “How Many More Years”, Elvis Presley’s “A Big Hunk o’ Love”, “A Mess of Blues”, “Little Sister” and “One Night” along with Lowell Fulson’s “Reconsider Baby”.
“I’d like to thank you, my dear nephew, for making me stay up so late,” Plant said to Sanchez while on stage.
Plant also mentioned while on stage that his daughter Carmen was in attendance at the show.

Plant and Sanchez have been friends for years. “Robert Plant has remained a dear friend since around 1982 when we first made contact to the sounds of Johnny Burnette´s Rock n Roll Trio and Vince Taylor & The Playboys,” Sanchez wrote on Instagram last year. “I call Robert my uncle and he calls me his baby brother!”
I remember seeing Robert play with Mike Sanchez and his band at Leeds University in 1986 as a warm up for a charity gig in Birmingham. It was a night of Honeydripper material. I think I have a tape of the show somewhere. I also remember Mike playing at the Zep O2 show in 2007. Most of the audience were in the bar at the time. Mike came on wearing an outrageous red outfit with a huge matching hat. it reminded me of Jim Carry in the Mask (except his outfit was yellow)
I listened to RP new album Saving Grace and thought to myself’why does Robert Plant, make this shitty music?’ I’ve been a fan of his solo music since1982 Principles of moments. This past 10 years his music barely registered on any charts or radio play. Its garbage.
